How do I bill for video visits via OTN?
Patient care through video visits is billable through OHIP. Physicians submit their bills for video visit consultations directly to OHIP. There is no cost to patients for video visit services.
As a Physician, when your application is accepted, OTN will forward an OHIP Registration form for completion, which is required to enable video visit billing. Please complete and return when provided.
For more information on OHIP billing, get the details here.
Are there any limitations on where I or the patient need to be to conduct a video visit?
You can conduct a video visit from anywhere in Ontario where a high-speed internet connection is available. Patient encounters must be conducted from inside the province of Ontario as mandated by the Ministry of Health (both the patient and the provider must be physically within Ontario at the time of the video consultation).
Do I need to re-register for Virtual Care (Telemedicine) billing?
No, physicians and dentists who have previously submitted a registration form to OTN and who have been registered for the Ministry’s Virtual Care (Telemedicine) Program do not need to submit a new form or re-register.
What are some tips for an optimal sign up experience?
- ONE ID: Get a ONE ID from eHealth Ontario whenever possible.
- Express Signup: For OTN member organization users who have a ONE ID already, the shortest path is to sign in to the OTNhub with ONE ID directly and you’ll access OTNhub services within minutes.
- Name a delegate: Prepare the information of a Delegate, an individual who will support scheduling of visits with patients. You will be required to provide the name, email address and profession of this individual upon sign up. The delegate can also get access to the OTNhub Directory to view and find health care providers using virtual care, a scheduling tool to coordinate patient care at their organization, along with professional development opportunities in an online health care community.
Once your ONE ID is set up, OTN will process your request for services within 1 to 2 business days and send email instructions on how to securely login to activate and access your OTNhub services. The entire process generally takes between 3 and 5 days. Watch for your email!
Physicians are encouraged to complete and return an OHIP Registration form when your application is accepted.
